Curator's Statement:

 

"Fundamentally, I wanted to show the work of four artists who have rigorous studio practices, and whose work, I believe, deserves to be seen. Laissez-Faire is an attempt to interfere as little as possible in the system of art production and exhibition. Of course, realising this is another thing altogether; all gallery spaces have intrinsic physical limitations that dictate how much work can be shown. It is at this point where the paradox of a laissez-faire attitude to curating an exhibition becomes somewhat absurd; decisions have to be made. Working with the remnants of Neil Dawson's Vertigo by re-using his black painted walls in the back gallery was one way to address some of these practical questions..."
